Mechanic – Heavy Equipment

We have an opportunity for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Conroe, TX. The right candidate for this position will evaluate, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain microtunneling and horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment. Will also be required to assist in other operations such as loading/unloading trucks, facility maintenance along with other duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Troubleshoot, maintain & repair company-owned assets. Knowledge of microtunneling and HDD equipment maintenance. Equipment may include: Microtunnel Boring Machines, Horizontal Directional Drilling Rigs, Hydraulic Power Packs, Bentonite Cleaning Systems, Diesel Engines, AC/DC Motors, & Generators. Use hand and power tools in the repair and maintenance of equipment. Coordinate with supervisor to make sure all parts and/or materials for project are accounted for. Operate forklift, telehandler, and/or wheel loader to move and load items. Complete paperwork and document all repairs.

Perform repairs and routine maintenance, as instructed by supervisor, on all company-owned equipment. Instruct assistant(s) on proper equipment repair methods. Load/unload trucks during mobilization/demobilization.

QUALIFICATIONS:·

  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience involving microtunneling or HDD equipment. Substantial knowledge in other areas of heavy construction equipment may be substituted.
  • Trade school diploma or other certification (Not required, but beneficial.)
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required. CDL is a plus.
  • Familiar with typical hand/power tools.
  • Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems in order to troubleshoot and make repairs.
  • Welding experience is a plus.
  • Ability to travel occasionally (10%).
  • Bi-lingual in English & Spanish (not required, but beneficial)
  • Pro-active & complete assignments timely with a strong attention to detail
  • Most work will be performed in a non-climate-controlled area. Hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Dirty, dusty conditions will be encountered. Working outside could be encountered 50% or more during the day.
  • Employee should be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 50+ pounds occasionally. Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment.
